Elementary preview
I am actually extremely excited to see what they do with this. Maybe Moffat thinks they’ve changed the original too much, but I’m definitely willing to give it a chance. I like what I see of Holmes in this preview— I like the quick, sure deductions and the enthusiasm he shows when he feels he’s on to something. A female Watson is a bit worrisome, but as long as their relationship remains a friendship, I think it will be fine. And yes, it’s in American, but that’s hardly a change compared to modernizing. Taking Holmes out of the gaslit 1800s was the big step; after that, any other changes won’t affect mood too much. Can murders in New York really be that different than murders in London? The fact that it’s a city is the important part.
I’m sure I’ll have problems with Elementary eventually, but I have problems with Sherlock as well. Every adaptation will have it’s issues, because everyone sees the stories in a different way.
I know it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted anything that involved much thinking on my part, so after I watch Sherlock tonight I’ll try to put something together. For now, an illustration by Joseph Simpson for “The Adventure of the Red Circle.”

YES!
I didn’t even try for this. Actually I’m not at all sure how it happened…

I have a feeling a lot of fangirls are going to be looking for houses here.
I would like to live on Silver Blaze Drive.

All love to the hottie Holmes of the Steele illustrations.

poor Watson
This is one of those times again when I feel like I should watch some Granada Holmes. But then I watch Granada Holmes and I don’t like it as much as I expected I would. So I stop watching it. And the circle continues.
I like this article. It makes me want to subscribe to the Baker Street Journal.
